The California bride-to-be explained her logic on Facebook, saying that while the cost of a wedding is an issue, the funeral expenses for a recently deceased aunt are 'skyrocketing', and it makes sense to her to merge the two.She then said they would be having an open-casket session at the wedding for her aunt, to save on costs. The reaction has been swift. The post read: "Dear friends and family of the wedding, some of you may have gotten the news already but Aunt Karen has sadly passed away from natural causes."We are all deeply saddened about her loss but we promise that we will not cancel the wedding next week."In her honour we know that she would want us to celebrate and have a day filled with love and joy."She continued: "I would also like to add that funeral costs are skyrocketing and we will have an open casket session during some of the wedding processions."Feel free to stop by during the wedding to say goodbyes, she will be on display for those who wish to gain some closure."Remember, even though losing ones we love can be heartbreaking - there is also a joy in celebrating love and partnership in marriage."She ended the post by saying: "See you all there on Saturday.""So it's a joint wedding and funeral to save on church costs," questioned one Facebook follower. "So bizarre.""I'm all for honouring the woman but a joint wedding/ funeral is weird," said another.Another follower of the Facebook page said: "Good god I'm kinda horrified (sic).""So creepy," said another horrified social media user.
